Community
I am part of several community groups, both in-school and out of school. I am a part of many groups in school, which include Science Olympiad, basketball, and cross-country. Two of these are group events, however cross-country is a solo event. This still, however requires a team. There are team awards, and teams often help with motivation and persistence. Science Olympiad and basketball, however, are team events. While they are completely different, they share some similarities in terms of team effort. You have to coordinate, and take each others’ strengths and weaknesses in order to create an excellent team.
I am also in several community groups outside of school. I have bowling and choir rehearsals on Saturdays and Sundays, respectively. These are also team efforts, however, they are quite different, as the quality of the team is more dependent on your individual abilities, rather than your abilities to work as a team. While your individual efforts contribute to the total ability of the team, they are more like parts of a group, rather than the group itself.
There are several pros when joining a community group, such as being able to participate in the group itself, but there are several responsibilities that are very important to the function of the community as a whole. Some responsibilities include doing well in whatever event you are participating in, as well as keeping yourself well rested and healthy, as that is almost always vital in your performance. If you are looking for groups to join, I advise you ask around with friends, and look for advertisements for the types of groups you want to join.
